My Magical Disney Cruise – A Kid’s Perspective
After Barcelona, we went to my Mom’s dream vacation, a cruise. I’m not talking about any cruise, this cruise had everything. When we boarded our family was announced and everyone clapped for us. It was called the Disney Magic. I loved the food, pools, rooms and service. The chefs and waiters were amazing, they were really nice and dinner was free! We got at least two scoops of ice cream every day and for breakfast and lunch, we ate pizza, eggs and bacon and other foods I can’t remember right now.
There was a toddler’s pool, a swimming pool and two water slides. There is a yellow relaxing slide and the Aqua Dunk. The Aqua Dunk is a slide where you would stand in the coffin and wait until it would drop you. I thought it was scary but my brother liked it. I admit it was kind of fun.
The boat is 10 levels high but the tenth level is for the water slides (the pools and slides are outside). When my brother and I were swimming we got to watch movies, there was a giant TV in front of the pool.
Our room was on the fifth floor and the theater was just a little walk away. The 3 restaurants are on level 3 and 4, surprisingly our waiters followed us when we had dinner at different restaurants. They were really nice, they told us what food was better than others and what food wasn’t that good. They gave us brain puzzles during dinner like creating the pattern of a horse with 5 crayons and asking us to change the direction of the horse moving only 1 crayon.
Dinner (and dessert) is one of our favorite times of the day. We enjoyed so many things but I’m not finished yet. All the dessert was great. Once we got a chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce and a scoop of ice cream on top. It was amazing! I almost couldn’t eat it all. After dinner, we would go back to our room and find an animal made out of clean towels.
After that, I would brush my teeth and get ready for a pre-teens club. One time I stayed up until 1:00 in the morning. In the club, we had a pirate party (we won), sang karaoke and then my Dad came to get me because of the time. I was very surprised I stayed up that long. In the morning, if my brother didn’t swim he went to a little kid’s club.
Mom, Dad and I played Bingo two times and Mom won a hat. One of the songs they played when ‘B11’ was called was “All the Bingo Ladies” (All the Single Ladies). Because 11 in Spanish is Once (pronounced own-say). So B-Once would mean a Beyonce song and dance party. We also tried to play on a family game show but someone else got picked first.
The last full day was probably the best. We would dress up like pirates, had a dance party with pirates (Captain Hook and Mr. Smee) and Disney characters dressed like pirates (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, etc.). The characters went away and we watched fireworks over the boat and ocean then Mickey came down a zip line. Pretty hard to believe, well my imagination isn’t too great.
I love the Disney Magic, it was super fun and I would totally do it again but I would also like trying other cruise ships.
